Overview: Content of NDSR Output Files for Recall, Record and Record-Assisted Recall Records

Output files for Recall, Record and Record-Assisted Recall records include information about a participant’s food intake during a 24-hour period. The NDSR Dietary Supplement Assessment Module (DSAM) is an optional addition to dietary intake record protocols allowing for the collection of 24-hour or 30-day dietary supplement intake. Below is the type of data that NDSR output files include for these record types.

Nutrient Data

Values for 178 nutrients, nutrient ratios, and other food components

● File 04: Total daily nutrient intake from food

 

Meal

● File 03: Nutrient intake for each meal/eating occasion (e.g., breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack)

 

Food

● File 02: Nutrients from each food in the record at the whole food level (e.g., lasagna)
● File 01: Nutrients from each food in the record at the ingredient level (e.g., lasagna noodles, mozzarella cheese, etc.)

HEI Data

Total HEI score, index and component scores,  and MyPlate equivalents

● File 16: Ingredient files for 24-hr supplement intake (e.g., nutrients and botanicals as described by manufacturer)
● File 18: Blend Ingredient files for 24-hr supplement intake (e.g., Juice Fiber Blend is the ingredient contained in File 16, while Apple Pectin and Acacia Gum will be the ingredients in the blend in File 18)

 

30 day average

● File 13: Average daily nutrient intake from dietary supplements (past 30 days)
● File 15: Product files for 30-day supplement intake (e.g., 30-day average of nutrients from each supplement)
● Files 17 & 19: Ingredient and Blend Ingredient files for 30-day supplement intake (analogous to Files 16 & 18 listed above)

Error Log

 

● File 00 Lists records excluded from a dataset due to incomplete record entry (e.g., amount entry missing for a food in a record)
