Preparation for the Asynchronous NDSR Training course
Prior to beginning the Asynchronous NDSR Training course, you will need a University of Minnesota Internet ID (for current U of M faculty, staff, or students) or a guest account, and access to the current version of NDSR. In addition, you need to complete pre-training exercises that will be provided after you’ve registered for the asynchronous course.
University of Minnesota Internet ID or Guest Account
If you do not already have a University of Minnesota Internet ID (X500), you can create a guest account by filling out the Create Guest Account form. For assistance with this process see this Accounts How-To page. Then email your Internet ID (likely your email address) to NDSRtraining@umn.edu. The Internet ID is required in order to give you access to the asynchronous course.
If you already have a University of Minnesota Internet ID (X500), please email it to NDSRtraining@umn.edu if you registered using an email other than your U of M email.
NDSR
If you do not already have the current version of NDSR installed on your computer, please contact NDSRhelp@umn.edu to request a temporary copy of NDSR. You will be provided with a link to download the program. You will need Administrative privilege on your computer in order to install the program. Once you have installed the program, you will be prompted to contact NCC for a password, which will give you temporary access to the program. Note that the temporary password does not allow for generation of output files, so should not be used for data collection or entry outside of training activities.
Pre-Training Exercises
Prior to beginning the asynchronous course, we ask that you complete the NDSR Tutorials as an introduction to the program. Most trainees have told us that completing the tutorials before the workshop was helpful. If you are limited for time, even just completing the first seven pages will give you an introduction to the program and help to verify that the software is working as intended on your computer.
Preparation for the Live Interviewing Practice Workshop
Register for a Workshop
If you have not already done so, register for one of the Live Interviewing Practice Workshops. You can sign up for a workshop session when registering for the asynchronous course. If you would like to add the live workshop after your enrollment activation date for the asynchronous course, please reach out to NDSRtraining@umn.edu to request any modifications.
Zoom
If you do not already have Zoom installed on your computer, please visit zoom.us to install the program. Be sure to perform an audio test prior to joining your session. The Live Interviewing Practice workshop will require individual participation, and attendees will need to be able to hear and be heard through Zoom in order to fully participate.
Preparation for Certification
Instructions for Certification can be found in the training manual sent to you after you register for the Asynchronous NDSR Training course.
