NDSR Fluoride is the first software designed to assess total fluoride exposure. The software was designed under the sponsorship of the NIH National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research (NIDCR) and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) in collaboration with the USDA Nutrient Data Laboratory and the University of Iowa College of Dentistry.
- Collects data to assess the amount of fluoride ingested from dietary (food, water, beverages) and non-dietary (toothpaste, mouthrinse, supplements) sources.
- Incorporates the newly released USDA National Fluoride Database values.
- Integrates assayed fluoride values from collected water and water-based beverage samples.
- Provides an interview program that features direct data entry with standardized interview prompts.
- Includes the multiple-pass interview methodology to collect 24-hour dietary recall records.
- Utilizes a research-quality database that currently provides 158 nutrients, nutrient ratios and food components.
- Automatically calculates nutrient values as data are entered.
- Provides multiple reporting options including files to support statistical analysis.
- Tested in a demonstration study conducted in coordination with the University of Iowa
